What is science fiction romance?

In a nutshell, it’s a romance that takes place in a technological setting and has an upbeat ending. Some stories have more science fictional elements and some have less, but generally the stories focus on the intersection of technology and romance. Read the Editorial from Issue 1 to get an idea of what it means to Editor, Kaz Augustin.

No, we are an independent entity with a love of SF romance, regardless of whether itโ€™s traditionally, or independently, published. The story is key.

How many issues can I look forward to a year?

Four issues. Our current planned schedule is: February 28, June 30, September 30, and December 31.

What kinds of books will you feature?

As space and time permits, we’ll cover a broad range of titles ranging from romantic SF to erotic sci-fi romance. There’ll be something for everyone!

I don’t want to read the issue on the website. Is a download available?

I’d like to submit a short story. What are the guidelines?

See our submission guidelines here.

Can I pitch you my guest column idea?

Thanks for your interest. Currently, the guest column is by invitation only.

How do I submit my artwork for your consideration?

Like our fiction, Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly is looking for standout artwork to decorate the cover of our magazine. The ratio weโ€™re after is roughly 2.4 by 2.8. Please make sure the width of your image is at least 1500px, with a minimum resolution of 140dpi. Also remember that we need a lot of space to place the teasers for the issue, so make sure the focus of your art is either in the centre or only on one side of the image. Payment varies, depending on our ad revenue, but we pay a minimum US$60 via Paypal upon publication. Send submissions to Artwork โ€œatโ€ SciFiRomanceQuarterly dot org

Is it possible for me to offer the Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly on my website as a download? Not for profit or anything just as something they can look at and then lead to your site. Or maybe a link?

That’s a lovely thought, Tara. Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s the thing: the downloads are pretty big and we wouldn’t feel right expecting other people to cater for the added website bandwidth. But a link to our site would be nice and very much appreciated, especially if it came with some words of encouragement from you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Cool. Yeah I realized how big it was. But I am definitely working on the length and some very positive things to say about Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly.

The submission guidelines link leads to a 404 error.

Thanks Amanda. I’ll get rid of it.
